Regulatory Decision of 2026 Amending the Regulatory Decision on the Determination of the Procedure for Granting Rights of Use and Management of Domain Names ending in «.cy», P.I. 261/2026.

The Registry .cy informs the public and its stakeholders that the new Regulatory Decision of 2026 (P.I. 261/2026) issued by the Digital Security Authority (DSA) and the Commissioner of Communications was officially published in the Gazette of the Republic of Cyprus (No. 6029, June 12, 2026).

This Decision amends the existing Regulatory Decision P.I. 296/2022 governing the assignment and management of domain names under the “.cy” Top-Level Domain.

Key Provisions:

• Effective Date: Pursuant to Article 4, the Decision enters into force immediately upon its publication in the Official Gazette.

• NIS2 Alignment: Under Article 3 (amending Annex VI), the .cy Registry Administrator is explicitly required to comply with the Security of Network and Information Systems Law of 2020 (Law 89(I)/2020), specifically Article 38A regarding domain name registration databases.

This milestone paves the way for the immediate implementation and alignment of the Registry .cy with the European NIS2 Directive requirements. In this context, the Registry has already submitted the required Security Policies to the competent authorities for final approval.
